It's about 98% accurate for Downs I believe and the 2% wrong answers are false positives so if you got a positive you could then have an invasive test if you wanted to be absolutely sure. So you don't get a "risk percentage" you get told "yes Downs" or "no Downs". The Harmony/NIPT test is definitive - it's looking for fragments of foetal DNA in the mothers' blood I think and checking the chromosomes of that. Longest week ever emoji29 hope your results were ok x. Theyve been bus apparently with X mas backlog. ![]() However (a) obviously even those with "high risk" results may well not have Downs - a 1 in 150 chance is still very small and on the flip side (b) there are lots of babies born with Downs (about 25% I think?) whose mothers were given a "low risk" result. I called them today, they said my results will be back tomorrow evening but they wont call me till Wednesday am to let me know. Anything higher than 1 in 150 is "high risk" and you can have further (invasive) testing if you want. But is worth knowing the standard test is still 93 accurate. How accurate is the Harmony Test While the Harmony Test is expensive, it’s claimed this method of non-invasive testing is 99 accurate. ![]() So for example you'd be told "based on your blood hormones and the scan, we think there is a 1 in 2000 chance the baby has Downs". Moreover, NIPT is more accurate in identifying Down syndrome than previous screening tests (Taylor-Phillips et al 2016), and appears simpler to understand. Currently, the cost for one scan and subsequent testing is around 300-500. ![]() Blondes the standard 12 week NHS screening tells you the % risk that your baby has Downs/Edwards/Patau, based on the scan and some hormone tests.
